GHOST STORIES!
Come hear some scary ghost stories told by professional storyteller, Alan Irvine.
When? Saturday, October 23rd, 2:00 - 3:00 pm
Where? Coyle Free Library
Who can come? Teens & Adults are invited
What is the cost? IT IS FREE!

About Alan: Many years ago, Alan Irvine worked as a camp counselor in the Louisiana pine woods. One night, after lights out, he needed to do something to pass the time until the kids in the cabin fell asleep. Thinking back, he remembered a ghost story he heard years ago. When he told the story, something clicked; the kids in the cabin liked it and clamored for more. From that point on, Alan continued to tell stories in the cabin after lights out, around bonfires, while out on camping trips. For years, Alan's ghost stories and humorous tales kept everyone huddled close to the campfire. In time, his repertoire of stories grew to include folktales and legends, as well as his own fantasy tales. He moved north to Pittsburgh in 1984, and continued to expand his repertoire and to hone his craft.

Since we are almost done with January

It is time to talk about the great activities that are happening in February! First, and most excitingly, we have rescheduled the benefit concert for the teen that was canceled back in December to now be on February 20th. Now it will be even bigger and better as we have 4 local teen bands playing! The one band is called Revolution Moment and I will be releasing the other bands names as I get them. There is still a cost to come but it will be $5 at the door. It will be at the Grove Family Library on February 20th at 7 pm.

Also on February 20th from 11 am - 1 pm, you can show what you got at "Grove's Got Talent". This is for tweens (9 - 14 yrs old) who want to show off their talent in either music, art, fashion, magic, stand-up, and sports. You do need to sign up so call the Grove Family Library at 717-264-9663.

Another February activity is Book Bingo at Grove Family Library. This event benefits the tween group. It was very successful and a lot of fun the first time around. It is on February 5th from 6 - 8 pm.

Lastly, time to get your dancing shoes on. We will be having Disco Karaoke on February 27th at the Coyle Free Library from 2 - 4 pm.

just tween you and me

Tweens are awesome. That is why Grove Family Library is planning some cool activities for tweens over the next couple months.

  • January 22nd from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm - Frisbee Golf There will be pizza, chips, drinks and foam frisbees for you to throw around the library. What can be more fun than that?
  • February 5th from 6 pm - 8 pm - Book Bingo Back by popular demand we will be playing bingo with books as your prizes. This is a fundraiser for the tween group at Grove so it will be $1 per card for the full 2 hours. We will also be having a bake sale during this event.
  • February 20th from 11 am - 1 pm - Grove Has Talent Show off that talent. There will be prizes and you must sign up beforehand at Grove Family Library.

I like coffee, I like tea...

Just wanted to remind you that we will be having a open mic coffeehouse, Creative CafĂ©, this Saturday, January 9th, at the Coyle Free Library from 2 – 4 pm. Coffee, hot chocolate, and tea will be free and the will be baked goods for sale. You can sign up to perform by clicking on the link to the right. It should be a nice afternoon to hang out with friends while listening to music, poetry and prose.

If you are interested in helping plan activities at the library, the next teen “The Board” meeting is on January 14th at the Coyle Free Library from 6 – 7:30 pm. We are always interested in having new people join the group. If you have any questions, please feel free to email @ dbigham@fclspa.org.
